WJA meeting and audience with King Felipe of Spain

The World Jurist Association (WJA) called on Chief Rabbi Isaac Sacca to attend the congress at the World Law Foundation in Madrid. The panel focused on the topic “Religions for Peace – In defense of a free and moderate practice.”

The WJA is a free and open forum where magistrates, judges, prosecutors, lawyers, law professors, notaries, registrars and other professionals and students from around the world work cooperatively to strengthen and expand the rule of law and its institutions. Among its founders are Austin Churchill, Nelson Mandela and René Cassin. In its more than 55 years of achievements and as an NGO with special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council, the WJA has provided a unique forum for the international community to work closely with governments, other NGOs and international associations to foster cooperative dialogue on world peace.

The moderator of the panel was Viviane Reding, vice president of the World Law Foundation and the European Commission from 2010 to 2014. Along with Chief Rabbi Sacca, Abdulrahman Al Zais, Vice Secretary General of the Muslim World League and Gerardo Del Pozo Abejón, professor emeritus at the Theology Department of San Dámaso University participated as panelists.

This outstanding event took place in Madrid, on March 5, 2024. The delegation was received by King Felipe at the Zarzuela palace.

A few years ago, the World Jurist Association, chaired by Javier Cremades, granted His Majesty the King the “World Peace and Liberty Award” in recognition of the fundamental role of the Spanish Parliamentary Monarchy and its commitment to the Rule of Law.
