Tribute in memory of Holocaust victims

The Chief Rabbi Isaac Sacca participated in a tribute organized by DAIA, on the occasion of the “Day of the Holocaust and Heroism”.

The event was held at the Teatro Coliseo and was attended by 4,000 people, including Interior Minister Rogelio Frigerio, and other officials of the national, provincial and City of Buenos Aires Government. Community leaders and diplomats accredited in Argentina also participated, including the ambassador of Israel, Dorit Shavit, and the French Ambassador, Jean Michel Casa.

Before reciting the Kaddish and reading the Book of Psalms (Tehillim), Rabbi Sacca said that the Holocaust existed “because some men, the murderers, forgot about God and the values he represents: goodness, mercy, peace and love”.

However, he stressed that “if humanity survived the Shoah, it is because there were some men who had hope in those values: harmony and friendship among people and peace among human beings.”
