The night in which the young people got together again – Charity Night

Article published by Iton Gadol on December, 1st 2021

Was the pandemic necessary to discover the importance of personal ties? The looks, the hugs, the words said looking into the others’ eyes. Did we discover the strength of the human being during the time in which those looks, those hugs and those words spoken looking into the eyes were missing?

“Although young people had been seing each other again and had been going out again, they were waiting to celebrate, they were waiting for someone to invite them to have a great time,” said Ariel Berim, director of Menora Youth. Menora has been organizing Charity Nights for years, the mega event that brings hundreds of young people together.

“I wasn’t aware of how much I missed the Charity Night. Seeing friends. Meeting new people. A relaxed and caring space at the same time. You arrive excited, you leave happy “, said Uriel Gerade.

Asked about the initiative of these events, Chief Rabbi Isaac Sacca, President of Menora explained: “Young people have the strength and the energy that can change the world. We adults must listen to them and guide that energy with education. At Menora we create the spaces and initiatives that young people , aware or not, ask for every day. Menora aims to educate young people and give them tools so that they are better prepared for life and become positive people for society ”.

Rabbi Gabriel Sacca, director of Menora, described that “together with young people, an enormous number of proposals are carried out during the year. Volunteers are the pillar. In Programs such as Hands on Deck, in which every Sunday they repair houses in a vulnerable situation, or Make the difference, where they gather to cook and clasify clothes in order to distribute them to people living on the streets ”.

Sol Setton, in charge of the general organization of the Charity Night together with Paloma Muhafara, detailed other programs:
“Shabbat dinners are organized in the homes of young volunteers who invite new people to share a relaxed and formal atmosphere. In Young Jewish for Peace, young people work together with embassies and diplomats to foster unity in society. There are talks for couples, activities for teenagers and after-office meetings. There are also trips to Israel, Spain, the United States and national destinations. With Menora Internacional, we help travelers who come to visit Buenos Aires ”.

Menora Youth also organizes solidarity campaigns such as hair collection for cancer patients and blood donation.
There are also training courses such as Grandchildren of the Shoá, Linkedin, digital marketing, coaching, law for entrepreneurs, cryptocurrencies, human resources.

The 2021 Charity Night of Menora brought together more than 450 youngsters in Rose in Rio. It gave young people the feeling that together they can do everything. The desire to continue doing for the others and for themselves. Find shared interests in peers to work together; assume the different opinions that form critical and respectful human beings.

“These are the youngsters we accompany every day. They are the young people who build a beautiful reality that makes our society better, ”concluded Chief Rabbi Isaac Sacca.
