Rabbi Isaac Sacca shares a reflection on the eve of Yom Kippur

Itongadol.- Forgiveness Day is the holiest day of the year for the Jewish people. It will begin on Wednesday September 15th with the appearance of the first star and will end on Thursday 16th.

Isaac Sacca is the Chief Rabbi of the Sephardic Community of Buenos Aires. On the occasion of the arrival of Yom Kippur he shared the following reflection on Twitter (@IsaacSacca): ‘‘ Let us remember that there is a judge and, therefore, there are consequences for the negative acts and reward for the good ones. There is justice, you can’t do what you want in life.”

Rabbi Sacca is the founder and president of the World Organization for the Youth, he published several books, essays, guides and articles in different media on topics that provide the Jewish perspective on different current issues, among which are essays on Talmudic laws related to the laws of marriage, faith, abortion, assimilation, organ donation, Jewish identity, crises, fears, raising children, family and love.

He is a reference for writers, educators, thinkers and journalists who consult him on the vision of Judaism. He has been internationally recognized for his activity with the community, especially with the youth, where he has put his best efforts to educate them through values. For his work on rabbinical studies , he was awarded the Agudat Israel National Israeli Prize in 2010.

Rabbi Sacca is a descendant of Jews from Syria and Eastern Europe. He began his advanced religious studies at the Sephardic Yesod Hadat Congregation, the first community founded in Buenos Aires by Jews from Aleppo. He continued his studies at the Porat Yosef Talmudic Academy in Jerusalem, where he graduated in 1983. In 1989, he was ordained as a Rabbi, after having completed postgraduate studies at the Jerusalem Iehave Daat Higher Rabbinical Academy of Jerusalem.

He also directed the realization of the Talmudic encyclopedic work Otzar Mefarshe Jajme Aram Zoba al HaRambam, a compendium of commentaries by all Syrian Talmudists on Maimonides’ masterpiece, the Mishneh Torah.

He is regularly invited by schools and universities to give lectures on topics that provide the Jewish perspective on various current issues of general interest. He promoted the creation of schools, study centers and charities in Latin America, Israel and different parts of the world and actively participates in interfaith meetings, forums and seminars with the purpose of promoting peace and harmony in society. He maintains excellent dialogue and relationships with all areas of Judaism and with leaders of other religions, including Pope Francis.

He is aware of the importance of youth as the main object of overcoming change, from Menora, he has taken care of training young people through programs that contribute to form them as good people, determined and with the tools and conviction necessary to add actions to a more noble and supportive world.

He has created different educational establishments, charitable organizations, social action and development programs.
