Menora UP is an innovative program carried out together by Menora and the University of Palermo, in which young observant Jews from Argentina and Latin America can harmonize their university studies with their traditional Jewish values.

In addition to the academic training corresponding to each discipline, Menora UP carrers have a plus: the possibility of choosing subjects related to the ethical ,moral and academically instructive values of Judaism. Having these tools is crucial to perform professionally. In this way, Menora UP stands out from the rest because it provides a comprehensive education.

Isaac Sacca, Chief Rabbi of the Sephardic Community of Buenos Aires and President of Menora, is part of the teaching staff in charge of teaching elective subjects at the university. This year he taught “Concepts of Economics according to the Torah”.

“In this subject we were able to learn all the precepts of the Torah that address the economy. We understand that it is of the utmost importance to keep them in mind in order to prosper commercially and fulfill all the obligations of the Torah ”, explains Shoshana Babour, a third-year student of the Administration career.

“The rabbi as a teacher is very clear and comprehensive. Although there are many Jewish labor laws , in a four-month period we managed to understand all the general concepts and how to go deeper into them. The rabbi also explained to us clearly what the role of each one of us is to help others, according to the vision of the Torah ”, says David Satalovsky, another Administration student.“

Micaela Schneider, student of fourth year of Administration, affirms that the rabbi as a teacher is “excellent”. “The subject was very complete. I was amazed at the number of new concepts and how big the scope of the Torah is to form us academically. Taking the elective course in charge of Rabbi Sacca definitely helped me at work level and also as a person ”, says the young woman.

Chief Rabbi Isaac Sacca thinks that “one of the foundations of the Menora program and the University of Palermo is the importance of enriching and improving the Jews’ life and growth , both in this community and in the Jewish community in general.”

Rabbi Sacca has always been interested in promoting among youth the importance of traditional academic studies, beyond religious education, Therefore, this program perfectly encompasses everything that he always wanted for young Jews.

“We are motivated by the spirit of giving opportunities to all, of bringing culture to all areas and responding to the value of diversity that Judaism sustains,” concluded Sacca“

With about 100 students, Menora-UP is now offering Bachelor’s degrees in Administration, Graphic Design, Psychology and soon Systems Engineering. The coordinator is dedicated exclusively to this group of students and works with each of them. The exponential growth of students is a reflection of the great task that is being carried out.
