Toast of the City Government for Rosh Hashana
On Wednesday September 27th the Mayor of the city of Buenos Aires received religious and community Jewish leaders to make a toast for Rosh Hashana.
The toast was held at the Headquarters of the City of Buenos Aires. The President of the Latin American Jewish Congress (CJL), Adrián Werthein; Rabbi Isaac Sacca; the General director of Cults, the undersecretary of International Institutional Relations of the city of Buenos Aires, professor Federico Pugliese; the undersecretary of Human Rights and Cultural Pluralism of the city of Buenos Aires, Pamela Malewicz; Miguel Toimaher and Ariel Stofenmacher representiatives of the Latin American Rabbinic Seminar, the Vice president of the Holocaust Museum, Guillermo Yanco; the executive director of CJL, Claudio Epelman; el former executive director of AMIA Daniel Pomerantz; and the titular of the Argentine Hebrew Social Circle (CSHA), Gustavo Sakkal were present at the event.
The president , vice president and executive director of DAIA, Ariel Cohen Sabban, Alberto Indij and Víctor Garelik, the president of FACCMA, Javier Veinberg; the representative for Latin America of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, the general Secretary and the Vice president of AMIA, Darío Curiel and Ariel Eichbaum, among others were also present.
During the emotional toast, Mayor Rodríguez Larreta gave some words for the whole community. He said that the meeting was a “corollary” of the job they are doing together in which a good link was generated. “This is a very active and one of the most powerful and biggest community. It is part of the magic of Buenos Aires, which combines respect and the origin of the history of each community” he expressed.
Chief Sephardic Rabbi Isaac Sacca also gave some words.
