The Minister of Commerce of Romania, Ilan Laufer, originally Jewish, invited leaders of the Jewish Community of Argentina to light the Hannukah candles in a special ceremony at the Embassy of Romania in Buenos Aires.

The President of DAIA Ariel Cohen Sabban and Chief Rabbi Isaac Sacca were present in the event among other community leaders. Rabbi Sacca went with young representatives of  Menora, World Organization for the Youth, of which he is the creator and President. Carolina Estebarena, legislator for Buenos Aires, was also present representing the authorities of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.

The leaders of the Jewish Community highlighted the labour and collaboration of the Embassy of Romania with Jewish organizations. They also mentioned the commitment of Romania in keeping  the memory of the Shoa alive..
