DAIA honored Eduardo Eurnekian and Baruj Tenembaum
On Tuesday December,11th at Belgrano Auditorium of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Eduardo Eurnekian and Baruj Tenembaum were honored by DAIA to distinguish institutions which sheltered Jews during the Holocaust.
They are respectively President and Founder of the International Raoul Wallenberg Foundation, an organization which identified hundreds of non-Jewish organizations which saved lives of thousands of people persecuted by Nazism.
Eduardo Eurnekian, touched as all the attendants, thanked DAIA for the recognition, he pointed out the “measurement of the devotion” of the Swedish diplomat, his exceptional “rescue feat” and the necessity that the “Houses of Life” are “tools to educate”, to transform them into lights that illuminate the acts of rescue where they took place.
The President of DAIA, Ariel Cohen Saban, highlighted that “lots of people were against the Nazi plan” and he thanked the effort of Tenembaum and Eurnekian in the task the Fundación Raoul Wallenberg carries out. Then, he gave them, together with the members of the directive of the Israeli Associations of Argentina, two shofars, the liturgical instrument built with the horn of an animal, used in religious Jewish celebrations.
After that Chief Sephardic Rabbi, Isaac Sacca and Mgr Kissag Mouradian blessed the President of the Foundation.
