On Monday, October 19th, at the reunion of the course for couples , Ariel Berim, director of Menora Youth, announced that soon they will be able to meet sometimes in person and sometimes virtually.
Ariel Berim introduced the talk by commenting on Genesis, coinciding with the weekly Torah reading. He stressed that Adam named himself that way because he was formed from the earth, adama. But since the human being is the goal of Creation, the maximum, in the image and likeness of G’d, why didn’t he choose a more spiritual name ?
Adam decided to call himself that way as a reminder of the constant work we must do to stay on a higher spiritual plane, because we must constantly fight against that natural tendency towards the earthly that we have, adama.
He stressed that the couple is the objective of Creation because it allows us to perfect ourselves: to constantly work to improve coexistence, to contribute more, to achieve greater holiness.
Rabbi Isaac Sacca focused on two points: the couple as a fundamental entity of society and the importance of beginnings.
The Rabbi stressed that all animals and also human beings were created male and female, one and one; both parts must complement each other.
Why should there only be continuity and progress, and reproduction of the species when two come together? Couldn’t the law of reproduction of a single being individually have been created?
That teaches us and establishes a premise in nature: there is only progress and success when people provide each other. The couple is the prototype of the basic mechanism of a successful partnership. In all areas of life there must be cooperation. The essence of the structure of nature is in the couple, in companionship.
In relation to Genesis, he explained that beginnings have a strength that remains for life; They are like gasoline for a vehicle: if you fill your tank well you can go further. Beginnings, especially in the couple, have to be very careful; with no conflicts, with harmony. There the amount of gasoline we have is established , and that will allow us to overcome the different obstacles that arise in the couple later.
