In an emotional ceremony, with the presence of Chief Rabbi Isaac Sacca, the inauguration of the Hechal in the new synagogue of the Menora Moise & Chella Safra Center for Youth was held, in memory of Moise Khafif Z”L. The ceremony, which took place last Monday, December 16, 2024, was a special tribute to someone who was a fundamental pillar of the community who left an everlasting legacy.
During the ceremony, Gloria, his wife, along with their children Ivette, Isaac, Edgard and Elena, paid tribute to the memory of Moise Khafif, remembering his exemplary life and his tireless dedication to the community. The family reaffirmed their commitment to continue his legacy, highlighting their firm belief in the importance of youth and their tireless dedication to strengthening the ties of the Jewish community.
Moise’s children gave emotional remarks in which they recalled the greatness of their father, recalling how he managed to become a role model and example for everyone, dedicating his life to serving and strengthening the community. Through their stories, the love, passion and vision that Moise Khafif transmitted to his family and to all those who had the privilege of knowing him were highlighted.
In his speech, the Chief Rabbi highlighted that the hechal, the sacred tabernacle where the Torah is kept, not only protects but also gives hierarchy to the Torah within it, in the same way that the Khafif family does with the community.
The ceremony was attended by close friends of the family and rabbinical members of Menora.
Mr. Andrés Meta and Moise’s grandchildren were assigned to bring the Torah scrolls into the new hechal.
