Chief Rabbi Isaac Sacca visited Pope Francis on June 6 of this year to introduce the Jewish Religious Council for Dialogue and Peace.
Council Mission
The Council was established by Chief Rabbi Isaac Sacca, with a transformative vision and an unwavering commitment to global unity.
It emerges as a platform dedicated to enhancing understanding and cooperation between different cultures, nationalities and religious beliefs. Its fundamental mission is to illuminate, communicate, know and advocate for peace, eradicate prejudices and promote the well-being of humanity. The Council proposes itself as a catalyst for change, fostering initiatives that endorse the values of tolerance, coexistence and mutual respect between different communities and nations.
Meeting with Pope Francis
In his meeting with His Holiness Pope Francis, Chief Rabbi Isaac Sacca shared the concerns that motivated him to create this Council.
During this meeting, Pope Francis praised the initiative, highlighting its importance and relevance in the current context. The Chief Rabbi – who has known Pope Francis since he was Primate of Argentina and Archbishop of Buenos Aires – extended an invitation to the Pontiff to participate, underscoring the essential role of interreligious dialogue in building a more peaceful world.
Rabbi Abraham Sacca, son of the Chief Rabbi and director of Menora’s Rabbinical Academy in Buenos Aires, also participated in the meeting. He is a significant contributor to the expansion and deepening of the educational and cultural objectives of the Council.
