Tisha B’Av Lecture

In the commemoration of Tisha B’Av, on July 27, 2023, a significant date in the Jewish calendar that commemorates the destruction of the two Temples of Jerusalem, Chief Rabbi Isaac Sacca gave a lecture with profound messages of reflection and ethical values in the Leticia and Eduardo Azar center at Menora. This special event was also broadcasted via Instagram Live, reaching a global audience.

The Tisha B’Av commemoration at Menora was an evening filled with meaning and reflection. Chief Rabbi Isaac Sacca emphasized the importance of cultivating ethical and compassionate values in our daily lives: “Do not centralize the focus of religion on worship. The Temple was destroyed because the cult that was practiced there no longer served as a catalyst for ethical and moral awareness. They thought that the simple ceremony was the central goal, but the objective of the Temple is that these rites activate the good virtues that people eventually forget. They forgot the Torah that promotes morality and ethics, and remembered only the visible part that is embodied in worship. Therefore, the cult did not have a positive effect”.

“That is why the surviving sages founded a school for the study of Torah in Yavne and not a new Temple for worship. They realized that only after studying the Torah well, the Temple would make sense again”, said Chief Rabbi Sacca.
