A group of students from the Center for Advanced Judaic Training for Women in Menora traveled to Israel for a month, in order to undergo an intensive Jewish training in Hebrew, at the most advanced level, at the Midrasha Neve Yerushalayim.
In addition to the program of studies at Neve Yerushalayim, the students attended external courses on different topics of Judaism taught by great rabbis and teachers in Israel.
In a special meeting, they met with Rabbanit Adina Bar Shalom, the eldest daughter of Chief Rabbi Ovadia Yosef Z”L. Adina is a prominent leader and educator in Israel. She was a pioneer in academic education in the Israeli religious world. She created the first university for religious men and women in the Haredi sector, to include them in the market and give them the opportunity to pursue careers with good job prospects.
In addition, Adina Bar Shalom promotes and is active in dialogues of coexistence and peace between the different sectors of Israeli society: religious and non-religious, Arabs and Jews, right and left.
For her great contribution to Israeli society, she was awarded the Israel Prize and also she lit one of the torches in the Israeli national act at the beginning of Yom Haatzmaut (Israeli Independence Day), which are the two most important prizes that it gives the State of Israel for contributions to society.
In the meeting with the young women, Adina spoke about her life, her career and the close relationship with her father. It was an exciting meeting and the participants left inspired.
The students presented her with a plaque – in the name of Menora and signed by Chief Rabbi Isaac Sacca – in recognition of her work and career and in gratitude for the meeting.
