On Wednesday, November 18th, Rabbi Isaac Sacca spoke at a new virtual meeting of “Spiritual Magazine” between Menora and the Jewish Community of Madrid. Coty Aserin, was the host of the event together with Verónica Schammah.
Rabbi Isaac discussed the weekly portion of Chaie Sarah from the book Genesis. This book of the Torah tells the story of the patriarchs, which contains a summary of universal and eternal messages for humanity.
When G’d created the world, there were no religions, no peoples; there were no divisions. The human being was the highest entity of all Creation and had to carry out his mission of being the protector of the world. The Man was the only creature who was aware of free will.
G’d put Adam and Eve in paradise to protect and guard the place. That was the cosmic plan of the universe. In time, their descendants forgot the overall goal of Creation and focused on mundane pleasures.
G’d created a lot of passion for life, pleasure, so that we like to live, to carry out something noble. However, the 10 generations before Noah and the 10 generations from Noah to Abraham, did not understand the message.
With Adam, Noah and Abraham there were 3 attempts to create a healthy society, to create a global society.
G’d made an agreement with Abraham through the Brit Mila, focusing on a small group of people. In that way He allowed society to head off through a small micro-society, through the smallest people among the nations.
G’d created a model for other human beings to imitate, not to exclude them. “Am Segula”, model people (not chosen people). In other words, the Jewish people have to try to be a model people, in which morality, ethics, and respect reign, to generate that positive contagion in others. A blessed society is one in which everyone respects each other.
Adam wanted to make a global project but it didn’t work, with Noah it didn’t work either. With Abraham and Sarah, a new stage began that still continues today.
You can’t cover everything. You must go forward little by little. Adam and Noah had universal projects, and they did not achieve their mission. Abraham and Sarah made a family. In this way, they transmitted concepts and examples to that family and the families grew and continued to transmit the message. And so millions of people believe in G’d, which was a humanitarian and civilizing revolution.
Abraham and Sarah teach us the program of G’d , which is born within a couple, a family, and expands naturally.
That is viable and can have effects on a universal and eternal level, as Abraham Abinu did.
