Menora welcomed Eyal Sela, Ambassador of the State of Israel to Argentina, for a moving farewell Shabbat that brought together leaders and representatives from different sectors of the Jewish community, with an extraordinary turnout.
During the gathering, the Ambassador was invited to participate in the opening of the Hechal, followed by a special prayer for the State of Israel. A song was then sung in the Ambassador’s honor, conveying the traditional blessing that parents give their children each Shabbat. The Ambassador and Chief Rabbi Isaac Sacca subsequently addressed the gathering.
In his speech, the Ambassador spoke particularly about his connection with Menora, noting that it was the second place he visited most frequently throughout his diplomatic tenure in Argentina. He described Menora as an example of how to build a Judaism that is close to the people, capable of creating spaces of belonging and offering a wide range of programs for different ages and stages of life, including Olami, Menora UP, Bibi’s, and Menora House, among many other initiatives.
For his part, Chief Rabbi Isaac Sacca reflected on the fundamental importance of the community as a space for unity, belonging, and growth. He particularly highlighted the presence at the farewell gathering of representatives from different sectors of the community, as an expression of their appreciation and affection for the Ambassador.
The Chief Rabbi congratulated the Ambassador on the extraordinary work he carried out during his mission in Argentina, describing him as one of the finest ambassadors the State of Israel has had in the country. He emphasized that, through his work and the relationships he built with Argentine society and the Jewish community, Ambassador Sela has already earned an important place in the contemporary history of relations between Israel and Argentina.
The gathering concluded in an atmosphere of appreciation, unity, and gratitude for the years shared, celebrating the commitment to the community and the continued strengthening of ties with the State of Israel.
