Lag LaOmer in the Sephardic Community

The Sephardic Community honored Lag LaOmer, a Jewish celebration that commemorates the interruption of an epidemic in which 24,000 students of Rabbi Akiva died in the 2nd century. Rabbi Akiva is an example of resilience, since despite the adversity, he continued to train new students, including the famous Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai.

Chief Rabbi Isaac Sacca participated in the event that took place at Menora at Olami Argentina headquarters and addressed a few words of inspiration alluding to the date.

“The material world and the spiritual world, both must be honored and respected, both – earthly life and eternal life – have an intrinsic value. Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai knew how to find the right balance between them» – highlighted Sacca.

He congratulated all the participants for their involvement in the Sephardic Community and their permanent collaboration for its growth.

In particular, the Rabbi highlighted the presence of the young students of the Yeshiva at Camargo, claiming that they are the future of the continuity of the Jewish People and their legacy.

Rabbi Meir Sasson, rabbi of the Temple, and the rabbanim and morim of the community also participated: Rabbi Abraham Minyan; the director of the youth yeshiva, Rabbi Gabriel Said; the coordinator of activities for adults and worship, Rabbi Ariel Cattach; the coordinator of Bereshit School, Rabbi Nisim Smechow, and Rabbi Eliezer Kaplan, coordinator of Olami Argentina and the Bet Midrash of young adults of the Sephardic Community.
