Chief Rabbi Isaac Sacca inaugurated the new Habif building at Bereshit School on Friday, March 6, 2026, at its headquarters located at 760 Gurruchaga Street, in the City of Buenos Aires. The event brought together educational authorities, community leaders, government representatives, school directors, teachers, families, and friends of the institution.
The new Habif building bears this name considering that the person who carried out this project is Sebastian Habif, president of the school and treasurer of the Sephardic Community, and grandson of Mr. Isaac Habif, who was president of the Sephardic Community more than 50 years ago. This new building not only expands and improves the facilities, but also represents a concrete expression of Bereshit School’s contribution to the educational system, through a pedagogical proposal committed to quality, innovation, and the building of values.
The school was founded as Ibn Gabirol by the Sephardic Community of Buenos Aires, ACISBA, and Chief Rabbi Arón Ángel in the 1950s–60s. It was later closed for a period of time and reopened in 2006, under the leadership of Chief Rabbi Isaac Sacca, thanks to the members of the community, also in the same place, under the name Chief Rabbi Arón Ángel Educational Center Bereshit School. With this new building, the school enters a stage of growth and exponential development.
The Chief Rabbi blessed all those who contributed to the realization of this great project and said: “This school is the result of the dedication of many people, women and men who contributed to its creation and progress, among them, previous community committees.”
The inauguration of the new building represents a community that continues to invest in education, the transmission of values, and the building of the future.
