On Friday July 7th Chief Rabbi Isaac Sacca participated in the act held by DAIA in which the important assistance and rescue work of the SAME during the attempt to AMIA in 1994 was recognized.
The ceremony was held in the Legislature of Buenos Aires.
The deputy Chief of the Government, Diego Santilli, was accompanied by the Minister of Health of the City, Ana María Bou Pérez, the director of the SAME, Alberto Crescenti, legislators and leaders of Israeli organizations.
“The attempt is still unpunished, there are no answers and the wound is still open. It was something that affected each and every Argentinian”, Santilli said at the beginning of the act. “I want to honor the families and victims who were lost in a terrible event that must never happen again. The SAME save lives every day and their work was outstanding on that day and every day” Santilli declared.
The President of DAIA, Ariel Cohen Sabban, expressed that ” Justice is being done after 23 years as we recognize the work performed by the SAME as well as the work of each of the people who work in one of the most prestigious organizations of Argentina.”
Rabbi Sacca blessed the members of the SAME for their job. He expressed that, in contrast of the darkness generated by the perpetrators of the attempts, they give light to the world.
